Waters & Company’s professionals have worked for some of Orange County’s largest organizations and on the county’s most important public issues. From the El Toro Marine Base reuse to healthcare initiatives, from educational institutions to large corporations, from land development to land preservation, we have done it all.

 

Meg Waters
For nearly 30 years, Meg Waters has provided public relations counseling to many of Orange County's most prominent corporations, public agencies and non-profit organizations. Combining her experience as a writer, marketing communications specialist and media spokesperson, she is able to take difficult issues and develop clear messages that the public can understand and embrace.

Meg Waters Meg handles strategic issues and media relations for a wide range of clients. She managed the media relations and community outreach program for the El Toro Reuse Planning Authority, comprised of ten cities and 20 affiliate/associate agencies supporting non-aviation uses for MCAS/El Toro. In her role as spokesperson for the anti-airport position she has given several hundred presentations to both supportive and hostile audiences.

She has also worked directly for a number of public agencies and cities including the County of Orange, Stanislaus County, City of Santa Ana, City of Lake Forest, City of Dana Point, City of Brea, and the City of Rancho Santa Margarita and the City of Laguna Hills. She also directed the community outreach for the release of the EIR for Foothill South, the last leg of the 241 toll road.

A significant part of her experience is in public relations and outreach in support of land use and development projects. She worked with Koll Real Estate Group and later Hearthside homes on Bolsa Chica, she has also worked for Santa Fe Energy Resources on the entitlement of Olinda Heights, Chevron Land/Lennar and has handled marketing communications for a number of home builders. For three years she taught the basics of public outreach and communications for the California Redevelopment Association.

She has also handled issues management and crisis communications with a client list that includes the Roman Catholic Diocese of Orange, Gigante USA, and Santa Ana Unified School District. Among her more recent private sector clients are Children’s Hospital of Orange County, City of Huntington Beach, Nicholas Enterprises, University of California Irvine, Silverado Senior Living, Transportation Corridor Agencies, Renew Measure M campaign, and Catholic Charities of Orange County.

Speech writing and public speaking are also areas of expertise. Meg has written numerous full text and discussion point speeches for a range of presenters. As part of her speech writing she also coaches speakers to present more effectively.

In 2001, Meg was honored by OC Metro Magazine as one of 10 Women Making a Difference in Orange County. She has twice been nominated for the Orange County Business Journal’s Women in Business award. She is currently a regular speaker for the California Redevelopment Association on the topic of community and media outreach in support of Redevelopment projects.

Meg is a member of the board of advisors for Beta Foster Care and a member of the California Women’s Leadership Association and a past member of the Board of Directors of the South Orange County Regional Chambers of Commerce and the Alzheimer’s Association of Orange County. She has taught public relations, media relations and writing at Fullerton College and has received top honors for her work from a number of professional associations. She holds a Bachelors of Arts degree from UC Riverside in Comparative Literature with an emphasis in 19th Century Russian Literature and Renaissance Italian Literature.

 

Brook McCall
Brooke McCall is currently a student at Saddleback College and works as a part time Account Coordinator at Waters and Company. She graduated with honors from Santa Margarita High School in June of 2006 and plans to transfer to a university by the end of this year.

Brooke worked at Dove Canyon Country Club for three years overseeing special events as a Bridal Attendant, Banquet Server, Concierge, and Hostess. Brooke also worked at a Family Law Firm as the Secretary answering phones and managing the office. Brooke later went on to work at South Coast Medical Center for New Medicine as a Doctor’s Assistant.

This past summer Brooke lived in South Africa for three months working in a soup kitchen and orphanage. Brooke has decided to concentrate her studies on Social Work and Peace Studies. Brooke has hopes to someday open her own orphanage. Besides the work she has done in South Africa, Brooke has also been very involved with charitable organizations in Mexico, Haiti, and Santa Ana. She helps organize and carry out projects for the charitable organizations working in these countries.
